Congratulations to Trey Torno for making the Texas All-State Band again this year!

Congratulations to Argyle students Trey Torno, Scott Henkel, Allison Gant, Ashleigh Block, and Clarissa Medrano for placing in the top six at Region and making it on to the Area competition!

Texas ATSSB Region Etudes – 2011

This is the “technical” Texas 2011 ATSSB region etude for clarinet – “Allegro Vivace” by Schubert. This is the slower version – approximately 60 bpm – and I recommend that my students first try to get it very clean and consistent at this tempo (or even slower) before attempting to play it any faster.

This is the “lyrical” Texas 2011 ATSSB region etude for clarinet – “Adagio” by Fiorillo, No. 24 from the Rose 40 Studies. It is very difficult to keep the tempo steady at this slow speed, so metronome work is especially important with this etude. Please excuse the ending; the bell rang as I finished the etude – about a half step lower than my last note!
